So over the weekend we put in place a number of changes that should help you:
1. Moved Play a Quiz to the top of the page
2. Save filter setting as default
3. Quick access to My Technologies
4. Separate tab for Taken/Closed quizzes
Taken altogether, the home page now looks like this:
The Not Taken tab will show you all quizzesthat are open (can be played). Note that you might not be eligible to play all of them (such as the quarterly playoff), but for the most part they will be precisely those quizzes you can play. Quizzes are ordered by those that will be over soonest.
The Taken/Closed tab shows you only those quizzes that you have taken or are closed (you missed the chance to take them). Those quizzes you answered most recently appear at the top of the list.
If you only want to see quizzes for technologies in which you are interested, change the filter to My Technologies:
Finally, if you want to change any of the settings for the technologies in which you are interested, click on "Edit My Technologies" to take you directly to the Technologies to Play page of your account.
We hope these changes make it easier to play your quizzes and review the results after you've played.
With Firefox 4.0.1 the "Taken/Closed" tab is no tab, but a non clickable text under "Not Taken"

In the first day after the change,
the addition indeed appeared as text, but it was however clickable and this worked.
Also, the 2 new links on the right side were overlapping other contents.
But now, after you published this thread,
I see the choices displayed correctly,
so I was almost sure that the development team
has corrected some display problem :)
Firefox now has version 6.0.1, but on my home machine I downgraded back to 4.0.1 because of slow response time.

In my Chrome the "Taken/Closed" was also a non-clickable text. But after I had clicked "Upcoming" tab once, then all three tabs behaved nicely afterwards and have continued to behave (I like the three tabs, by the way ;-)
ReplyDeleteMy original guess was that the new code needed a fresh parameter/variable (something like "l_currenttab") that didn't get properly initialized until a tab had been clicked upon? But seing similar problems that have been more browser specific, then just maybe it could be differences in browsers javascript engine (for ajax calls?)
Anyway, I do not have the problem anymore - whether it is due to having clicked a tab or whether it is due to a quick bugfix :-)

ReplyDeleteOne more small addition to my post above:
I am using Firefox 4.0.1 both on my office computer at work and on my home machine, with the same screen resolution of 600x800 (older people should protect their eyes ...).
Strangely enough, on my work computer the 3 tabs look ok, while on my home machine the 2-nd and 3-rd one appeared indeed as text,
displayed over the green line below, the Taken/Closed appearing just below the "Not Taken" tab and having even a "lighter" font,
but being still clickable.
I just tried to see what happens if I change
the screen resolution to a higher one,
and ... voila ! The 3 tabs just aligned themselves nicely in one single row, as expected.
After switching back the resolution to my usual 800x600, they still remained aligned correctly !
So, maybe changing the screen resolution could also help those that have browser problems.
Browsers seem to be very "intricate beings"
for us, straight-forward Oracle-minded people :)
